Not all our customers are handling standard items - products such as cartons, tote boxes, mail sacks etc. Newland have designed and developed machine models to convey a wide variety of goods:

• Newland were approached by a leading manufacturer of Denim, to design a telescopic belt conveyor to convey rolls of denim weighing 500kg with a 1.0 metre diameter and 1.8 metre in length into 12.0 metre long vehicles. The rolls had to be positioned within the vehicle using the telescopic action of the conveyor with no manual handling of the rolls. The front of the first telescopic boom was specially designed (‘Bull Bar’ front end) to push the rolls into their final position. A hand-held pendant control station is used to operate all the machine functions. The unit needed to have hydraulic height adjustment of +6 and -11° of movement with the ability to traverse between doorways.

• The installation of four boom conveyors within a fully automated warehouse conveyor system proved very successful. Throughput was increased by 50% with reduced loading times of the vehicles and elimination of manual handling of the product.
  

Through development and design, Newland have within their model range telescopic belt conveyors to load a variety of goods such as drums, mattresses, carpets, pressed steel components and loose material such as grain, soya pellets and animal feed stuffs.
